Either you love it or you hate it, thats my opinion on the Paranormal Activity movies, I just happen to be one of those who love them!
I have just recently watched the trailer for Paranormal Activity 3 and I must say I am rather impressed by the direction they are taking but a little skeptical as well.
I always knew that they were going to make a 3rd Paranormal but I was never sure as to what the story would be about. My worst fears is that they were going to make a sequel in which the teenage daughter from the second one would pursue her lost brother making the movie some stupid ghost hunting expedition, but this is not the case at all. The story, as it seems, is yet another prequel letting the audience know what happened to Katie and Christy when they were kids. Both of them talk about how these hauntings started when they were little in both movies but you never really know what exactly happened, it is only obvious that this movie will explain it.
There was one thing in the trailer, however, that confused me. The trailer ends with Katie and Christy playing the Bloody Mary game* in the bathroom and of course they set up a camera to document this experience. So they close the door, turn off the lights and say Bloody Mary three times. There is silence and then Katie scares her little sister. They have a good laugh and open the door to leave and the light reveals the shadow of a girl, standing behind them, which is obviously supposed to be Bloody Mary.
“Why does this confuse you Adam?”
Well it confuses me for this reason:
Both the movies pryer to this one have both been about this demon that has been torturing this family for generations. Both Katie and Christy even say that the demon haunting them in the present is the same demon from when they were both kids. So why implement this Bloody Mary part in in this one? Is Bloody Mary the new ghost in question? Did they unleasesh the fury of Blood Mary after playing this game?
Doubt it.
The Movie is probably, and should, still be the demon from the other two movies, I just thought it was stupid for the trailer to show this Bloody Mary scene. For one, it gave me the shivers but it didn’t make me jump, which can make the audience that loves the Paranormal movies, like myself, think that this one is not going to be as scary as the other two movies. For two, it will make some people think that this movie is going to be stupid because it could imply that the demon is not going to be present in this one, which would not make any sense.
I think they should had put in a part that would really make you jump. A scene with the demon haunting them, not Bloody Mary. This would make movie goers say, “Wow that was scary! We have to see this!”
There is one other reason why I am skeptical about this movie…
The two directors of this movie are Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. Don’t know who they are? Remember the Documentary “Catfish”? They both directed that documentary.
I saw Catfish and it was good for what it was but it wasn’t great, and neither one of them have directed much of anything else besides a couple of documentaries and now their diving right into making a feature length horror film? I don’t know about that, but who knows, they could surprise all of us and make something really good! The story is still written by Oren Peli who wrote all the Paranormal movies and directed the first one, so because of that, I have faith.
So yea, I have a lot of skepticism for this movie so am I still going to go see it? Yes. Am I still going to go to the midnight showing like I did the last one? Yes. I for one think it is worth the seven dollars to see and despite all my skepticisms on the trailer and movie itself, I am still excited!

*For those who do not know the Blood Mary game it is as follows. You turn off all the light in your bathroom, look in the mirror, and say Bloody Mary three times. After doing so the spirit of Bloody Mary will reveal herself to those who chanted her name*
Did you know that between 1923 and 1949 the Hollywood sign originally read Hollywoodland? It’s original purpose was to advertise a new housing development, however, due to old age, (it was only meant to last 18 months) the sign began deteriorating. So in the year 1949 as decided to restore the sign as new, this time only reading Hollywood, to represent the Hollywood district, not the Hollywoodland housing development.
Now you know!

So I just watched Sucker Punch tonight for the first time and I must say, It-Is-Awesome! The movie is about a young girl, Baby Doll, who is put into an insane asylum. She is scheduled for a Lobotomy and right before she does she has these fantasies that tell the story of her time there at the insane asylum. Think of the way the movie “Chicago” was done (for those who’ve seen it) but on drugs! The entire movie itself is basically one giant metaphor.
The music in it itself was amazing. They took a lot of already existing songs and did some really gritty covers that worked well for the movie. A few of them were actually sang by the main character, baby doll, herself. This includes songs from Queen and The Beatles. There is even a new version of the song “Sweet Dreams” at the very beginning which is probably one of my favorite versions yet.
Unfortunately the movie did have some cons as well.
Now the visual effects for it were great however not real. Let me explain. When I see visual effects, I don’t want to know that they are visual effects, I want it to be done so well, that it looks like they took a camera and just filmed it without using any visuals at all. This movie did not have that. Some, not all, but some of the visuals were a little to cartoony for me. There were parts in it that made me feel that they had just stepped into the world of “Who Framed Rodger Rabbit” and it just sort of lost me a little bit.
There were also parts of the film that dragged on I thought. Each fantasy that the girl went through was like one giant fantasy, which was cool and all, but after but it got old. Although I did watch the extended version so this might be a reason for this as well.
Overall I give the movie Four out of Five stars and highly recommend it to anyone and I, personally, plan on buying it at some point in my life.
For those who have no idea what this movie is, I’ve posted the trailer for it in the link below, enjoy!

The moment all Batman fans have been waiting for is finally here, the first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s third and last Batman film titled: “The Dark Knight Rises.” Could have been a little more creative on the title in my opinion but I’m not about to question the ways of the great Christopher Nolan!
The Trailer first premiered during the previews of the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2” midnight showing and was then released on the internet a few days later. Now when I first watched the trailer I thought: “Wow really? Thats it?” I’m not gonna lie I was expecting something a little more and I found myself not as excited as I thought I would be to see it. The more times I watched it, however, I found myself becoming more and more psyched up about the film.
When I think back to it, the trailer itself, is actually very well put together and does exactly what a trailer should do, make the audience ask questions that can only be answered by watching the film itself.
The trailer reveals a wounded/sick Lieutenant Gordon in a Hospital bed talking to whom I can only assume is Batman.
“How and why is Gordon on his death bed?”
A narration of Raz Al Ghul speaking in the beginning of the trailer.
“I thought Raz Al Ghul was dead? Why is he talking right now? Are they bringing him back?”
Bruce Wayne doing pushups in what looks like a jail.
“Why is Bruce in Jail? Did he get sent to Arkham?”
The trailer also reveals a short clip of the villain, Bane walking toward Batman and Batman looking as though he has had quite a beating. That is not what all the Buzz has been about however. In the last clip that I just spoke of, if you pause it and look in the upper right corner of the frame. You will see a figure standing there staring down at Batman and Bane. So then probably the biggest question remains, “Who is that man?”
Any way it is a very well done and entertaining trailer and I suggest everyone watch it at least once.
Oh, and for all you hardcore Batman fans out there, it is rumored that Christopher Nolan put in direct references from the comic book saga “Knightfall” in the Batman series. If your a hardcore Batman fan like myself, then I’m sure you all know what direct reference he is probably going to use!
Below is the URL so that you all may view the trailer via YouTube.
